The Coleman Lantern is a line of drive lamps first offered by way of the Coleman Company in 1914. This ended in a series of lamps that were at first made to burn kerosene or gasoline. Current fashions use kerosene, gas, Coleman fuel (white fuel) or propane and use one or two mantles to supply an intense white mild. Over the years greater than 50 million of the lanterns were sold right through the arena.[2]

History

In 1900, William Coffin Coleman was once promoting top pressure fuel fueled lamps. These lamps, particularly 'The Efficient' Pendant Arc lamp No. 6, were manufactured by way of Irby & Gilliland in Memphis, Tennessee. However, poor gross sales led him to acquire the patent for the lamp and redesign it.[3] He started to produce the lamp in 1903,[4] and in 1914 he introduced the Coleman Lantern, a design incorporating more than a few enhancements, such as bug-screen and flat base.

The double-mantle fashions in various iterations were among probably the most in style and have been in production from 1927 till 1979 (for model 228) or 1983 (for model 220).[5]
